Without support from Out & About, Juliana would not be able to cope with a mainstream activity like Rainbows. I only have good things to say about Out & About which I think is of immense value to disabled children and their families. Out & About gives Juliana her own special time and space developing skills outside school and gives me a bit of time with Juliana's brother. It means that they both have something to look forward to on Thursdays – we love it! Marcia Frony O’Shea
Tony sometimes has trouble with change, so we were glad that Out & About could support him in his out of school activities. Paul (Support Worker) has been a great help and had a good rapport with Tony the whole time. Theresa Moore
Jake has found great benefits from Out & About. He has almost learned how to use the bus on his own and eventually this will give him more independence. He is able to use more social skills now, something he would not have learned without Out & About. Your help now will support him throughout adulthood. Lorna Margetson
I’m really pleased with Out & About. Anya lost all her activities when we moved here from Cambridgeshire which left a big gap in her weekly routine. Of all the services in place for children like Anya (after 13 years we’ve seen most of them), Out & About gets a huge thumbs up for doing what it says it will!
Within a very short time, Anya had started Guides with a fantastic volunteer called Charley and is having great fun doing activities with other girls her age. She’s taking her Guide promise shortly, which she’s going to try to say and sign.
Now she looks forward to Monday nights and sees Charley as her friend, which has been great for her confidence and self-esteem. As a parent, Out & About have been a pleasure to deal with, no fuss, no lengthy paperwork, no waiting lists – great!
Being a parent of a disabled child can be hard enough, but what a pleasure to deal with such a straight forward and helpful service. Maybe Out & About should pass on their secret to other not-so-helpful services - it would help us parents! Anya Webb
Aimee is becoming much more confident – she will even pay for things herself now! Deborah Griggs
