Seven RAF personnel recently ran a gruelling 10 miles in hilly, windy, hot and humid Falkland Island conditions in support of Out & About.
Cpl Phil Wolstanholme who organised and took part in the run told us;
'Up and down steep and swerving hills, personnel showed the grit, tenacity and determination required to tackle the run, even though wearing a variety of uniform standards which included bergens, body armour webbing, full CS95 and even some boots!!!
Motivations stemmed from a desire to raise more publicity and funds for the RAF Marham 10, the competitive national road race that also raises funds for Out & About. This event will take place on Sun 17 July and £350.00 raised from the MPA fun run will also be donated.
A big thank you goes to runners; Cpl T Addison SAC D Robinson, SAC Turner, SAC A O Connor, Flt LT Hennesy and Flt Lt Eyles. Cpl Addison won the Per Ardua certificate for showing the most endeavour, wearing a 30lb bergen and full uniform!!!
I'd also like to thank the support team of Sgt Peake, Sgt Newnham and SAC Constantine who looked after photography and publicity. Also SACs Chris Edge, Pete Blakeman, and Matt O Grady, who obtained sponsorship on behalf of runners and then on the day drove alongside us, providing all refreshments and encouragement!!!
£350.00 raised from this event will support the RAF Marham 10, where all total proceeds will be donated to Out & About.'
