Leave a gift in your will

Disabled children and young people want to have the same opportunities as their non-disabled friends. By remembering Out & About in your will, it is a great way to ensure we can continue to make a difference to these children not only now, but in the future. It is with the help of gifts in wills that we will be able to continue to develop our service and help even more disabled children, ensuring that they have the same chances as every other child.

‘Out & About has made a difference to my life by helping me to make friends, helping me to join Scouts and build a camp fire’

Whether it’s £5 or £50,000 we shall treasure any gift you are able to make to us. Family come first, but a gift to Out & About will show just how important you think our work is.

Making a Will and keeping it up to date is very important – it puts you in control and is the only way you can be sure that your loved ones and the causes you care about get the gifts you intend for them.

It is important to note that by leaving a gift to Out & About, no matter how small or large it will be free from inheritance tax.

Types of Legacy

Residuary legacy

A percentage of the value of your estate once all other payments have been made (eg outstanding debts, tax, pecuniary and specific legacies). This is a particularly effective way to remember a charity because it is expressed as a percentage and retains its value over time.

Pecuniary legacy

This is a gift of a fixed amount of money. If you have family or other people who you want to receive the bulk of your estate, you may prefer to leave us a pecuniary legacy. However, you should be aware that the effects of inflation will mean that the real value of the legacy could become less than you intended, unless you review your will regularly.

Specific legacy

A gift of specific items, such as personal possessions (antiques, furniture, jewellery), land, buildings or specified investments such as shares.

Please consult your solicitor on the most appropriate way for you to leave a gift to Out & About in your Will.
